Welcome to Absolute Yoga

 

ABSOLUTE YOGA offers a refuge from the daily challenges of life. Located in Woodbury, Long Island, our two beautiful, peaceful studios provide the perfect environment for the ultimate union of body and soul.

We have over 50 classes per week in a variety of yoga styles and levels from beginner yoga to an energetic, strengthening warm vinyasa yoga. We also offer kid’s, pre- and post-natal yoga (yogi baby), restorative yoga, yoga for MS, as well as mat pilates and barre classes. Our yoga instructors are all certified in different styles and schools of yoga, including Vinyasa, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Anusara™ and Prana Flow. They are committed to offering you expert guidance as you experience the benefits that yoga can bring to your every day life.

Our mission at ABSOLUTE YOGA is to make yoga readily accessible to every body, regardless of age, level or fitness ability. It is not necessary to be flexible or strong to begin a yoga practice; an open mind and a willingness to explore your experience is all that’s required. Yoga is an amazing journey of self-discovery. We encourage everyone to come and experience some of the incredible benefits of this 5,000 year old practice.

We also have a full service yoga boutique with a large selection of yoga clothing (including Be Present, Beyond Yoga, Soybu, Colosseum, Prism Sport, Rese, Jois and Alo), jewelry, mats and props, mat carriers, Ayurvedic products, and an array of books and music.

News Updates

New class on Wednesdays from 7-7:45am.  Shake your Asana with Elyce.  Get your yoga groove on first thing in the morning. We will begin on our mats with yoga asanas (poses) and move into the free form and into a matless world.

Restorative Yoga and Aromatherapy Workshop with Dawn on Friday, August 15 from 7-9pm.  A great way to end the work week and begin the weekend in bliss. 

We're excited for this very special event: a REIKI & RHYTHM workshop with our Kristen Orsini of Radiant Healing and George Schultze of Spirit Sky on Sunday, August 24 from 2pm-4pm. Relax and find peace within this soothing collaboration of drum meditation and reiki treatment.

New Absolute Beginner Series starting Sunday, August 17 at 10:30am and Tuesday, August 26 at 6pm.

Turn your World Upside Down.  Energy Locks: Floating and Inversions Workshop with Adam Dobbs, Sunday, September 14 from 1:30-4pm.  In this workshop, you will learn a variety of techniques to enhance your yoga practice.  With the use of energy locks to refine your breath and healthy alignment patterns to use your body more efficiently,  you will gain a deeper understanding of how to approach jumps, arm balances and inversions in a safe, productive and individually appropriate manner. 

There is a huge population of people who are missing out on the benefits of a yoga experience simply because they may not be able to get on and off a mat.  Also, there is an even greater population of people that spend 75% or more of their day sitting uncomfortably in their chair creating havoc on their bodies when they could be “getting fit where they sit”! Join Lore Kent’s Long Island Chair Yoga Training on Sunday, September 28 from 12:30-5:45pm as she introduces you to all aspects of a traditional yoga practice while sitting in the comfort of a chair (as well as using the chair as a prop) t further deepen and enhance your or your student's yoga practice.  Being introduced to an endless variety of poses ranging from basic therapeutic poses to intermediate and advanced yoga postures, you will learn to create a practice for the specific population you are looking to work with.  Like any mat yoga practice, modifications and variations are introduced so "every body" can always find their level of comfort.

Yoga Book Club on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 12:15pm (4th Wednesday for August).  Join two of your interests, yoga and reading and join us for a 45 minute practice (all levels) and 45 minute book discussion and lunch.  For the month of August we are reading One Plus One  by JoJo Moyes.  Email us at info@absoluteyogastudio.com if you are interested in joining us so that lunch can be ordered appropriately.  $25 for yoga and lunch.
